When they see us(2019) limited series review

For those who are expecting stars in a review, I clearly don't believe in the star rating system because it ignores all the noble failures and positives of something which is an art form, how come stars become a criteria to critique the art. If you seriously love to watch movies then please make a difference. There are only few people who would love to read the full article. But the rating or star system is just limiting it's effectiveness and labelling the art. If you don't agree then just start seeing paid reviews and stars to convince yourself. I might disappoint you with this idea but it's an opinion I strongly believe and i promise you a detailed review.

Plotline - When They See Us (2019)

Five teens from Harlem become trapped in a nightmare when they're falsely accused of a brutal attack in Central Park. Based on the true story.

What's good?

• The performance of each and every cast especially Jharrel Jerome.
• With a true story, execution of each event was presented beautifully.
• Gut wrenching scenes.

What's not?
It's so emotionally moving that it'll move you to tears(nothing bad).

Worth a watch?
If you miss, your bad.

Analysis:-

The brutality against the blacks in America during 1989 was evident. This is a horrific story of such phenomenon. A jogger got molested and raped in the Central Park NY, the five boys were taken into custody and were questioned and assaulted for 18 hours without food and any familiar faces present there, these boys merely of 14-16 years age, who didn't even knew the meaning of rape were forced to make a false statement based on their false promise for redemption. 

The judge was favoring the state clearly as at that time there was system of spin of wheels to decide under whose jurisdiction the case would prevail, but here a judge was selected without any system and the result was more than a decade of imprisonment for these 5 boys. They were physically and mentally assaulted in the prison and even after their release they were unable to grab any job and some of them started working as cleaner and running errands. The most disturbing thing was when korey was asked by a police officer to escort his freind to the police station, as a great freind he escorted him to the police station turns out he became the prime suspect and suffered the longest term out of the five. 

The series depicts all the true events of these 5 people, their family, etc. It's a brutally honest screenplay coupled with superlative performances and dialogues. All the cast and supporting cast are smartly casted and they fulfills expectations.

The cinematography is so real that viewers would imagine themselves in the prison and family living rooms. The editing seems to be slow but that's the essence of it, slowly capturing every emotion. 

Korey Wise said in an interview that he died every single day and lost his entire childhood, just when the children of his age were planning their future and enjoying their lives, these people were tortured physically and mentally in the prison for the crime they never committed.
